Joan Ginsburg

I am a mother and grandmother living in the Caernarfon area of N Wales. My background is in education mainly, having taught in secondary schools and in a community college as well as teaching Welsh in the workplace. I have also been a home tutor for pupils who were unable to attend school for a variety of reasons which, sadly, were often linked to mental health conditions. I have felt discouraged on occasion by some of their outcomes and lack of support. I believe I have learned more from some of my pupils than they have from me , and that life is all about re-assessing and being open to others' stories and influence. I have also worked as a home- help and as a support worker for people with learning difficulties. I derive much pleasure from seeing people flourish and reach their potential, whatever form that might take , and believe that there are many routes towards being a fulfilled person. I want to live in a world where every child can achieve this and become the best and most contented adult they can be and it is for that reason I am proud to be involved with this movement. I do not want to contemplate a society where our most vulnerable members are not adequately cared for and safeguarded.
